Like the Russians appetite for liquor i see parallels with the Irish .The cold climate,religious guilt and past oppression i blame on generational Irish drink excess/escapism.I wish my family were bought up instead around the Mediterranean etc.there u could indulge in the sweet fruits and herbs(i.e tomatoes,capsicum ,basil) and tropical wonder of figs and dates to lighten the heart!oh to be born to be born in the uplifting warmth of the Mediterranean!-my secret wish!an irish gal
