WTP for a World Cup win

ING conducted an online survey of 8,000 people in 15 countries in this special report on the World Cup. One interesting question they asked was to elicit the average willingness to pay (WTP) for a World Cup win. Chileans top the list - they are apparently willing to pay 526 if it would ensure victory.

Examining the results as a % of GDP rejigs the order slightly - Argentina are top with this measure.

I suppose it says something about the satisfaction different nationals would get. But it could also say something about their propensity to believe that you can rig a win by paying. And about how satisfying such a (rigged) win would be to different nationals.
