As part of a substantial and sustained programme of investment in new staff to further enhance its research and teaching expertise, Stirling Management School wishes to make several full-time permanent appointments in Finance or Accounting, within its Accounting & Finance Division. Applications are invited from candidates with a passion for research, preferably in one of the division’s areas of excellence in finance or accounting. Research interests with potential for collaboration with colleagues in the division and/or other parts of the Stirling Management School are desirable. Appointments may be made at Senior Lecturer, Lecturer or Early Career Fellow levels.  The division is committed to the pursuit of excellence in both research and teaching. The division is expanding, growing and highly successful, generating a large income from unregulated markets. It provides a range of both postgraduate and undergraduate programmes, some in combination with other disciplines including economics and business studies. Further details about the division, staff and their research interests, can be found on our web pages:http://www.stir.ac.uk/management/staff-directory/accounting-and-finance/
The Early Career Fellowships are three year fixed-term positions at grade 7 designed for those who are at a very early stage of an academic career and who seek thereafter to move on to lectureships.   It is intended that by the end of the three year period candidates will have developed as independent researchers and be in a position to apply for lecturer positions (grade 8).
For the Lectureship posts, successful candidates will either have a publications record or be able to demonstrate the potential to produce publishable research of international excellence. They will have the ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, develop teaching materials, and perform related administrative/course management duties.  A good honours degree and a relevant PhD, or very nearly-completed PhD, are required.
For the Senior Lectureship posts, successful candidates will have a portfolio of recent academic research output that would be judged as meeting the Research Excellence Framework proposed criteria of international excellence, and evidence of planned future development of research outputs and research profile. They will have a relevant PhD, as well as a desire to supervise PhD students and to obtain research grant income. They will also have evidence of effective teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, of undertaking administrative duties, and ability to take on leadership roles in research and teaching.

ECONOMICS
We are looking for a new lecturer who is primarily interested in Banking, Financial or Monetary Economics, or related areas in economics and finance. However, people working in other areas of economics are also invited to apply. The Economics Division has a growing research group in banking, financial and monetary economics which currently comprises a senior lecturer (Alberto Montagnoli) and three lecturers (Tianshu Zhao, Georgios Panos and Xiaoshan Chen). Other people within the Division working on aspects of financial economics include Professor Liam Delaney and Professor David Bell. The main teaching duties will relate to our MSc in Banking and Finance, which currently recruits around 100 students per year. Undergraduate teaching in areas such as macro, financial and/or monetary economics may also be required.

Economics Division: http://www.stir.ac.uk/management/about/economics/
The Economics Division is ranked in the top 10% of institutions in the UK and Europe by RePEc. In RAE 2008, 15% of its research was rated as world leading and a further 45% as internationally excellent. Our Division currently consists of 15.5 faculty and 4 post-doc researchers. The main research interests lie in the areas of money, banking and finance; education and labour economics; environmental and energy economics; urban economics; work and wellbeing; and behavioural economics. A strong micro-econometrics group spans these interests. The Division has an excellent track record of attracting external research funding from sources including the ESRC, European Commission, Leverhulme Trust, and European Investment Bank, and plays a leading role in the Scottish Research Institute in Economics (SIRE). We have recently expanded a cross-School research grouping in economic psychology and behaviour, led by Professor Liam Delaney.

The Division offers taught MScs in Banking and Finance, Energy Management, Environmental Economics and Economics, as well as an undergraduate honours course in Economics. We also participate in the MSc in Economics which runs as part of the Scottish Graduate Programme in Economics (www.sgpe.ac.uk). We have a very active group of PhD students (currently 13 in number), who study topics from house price determination to the economics of renewable energy. The Division runs a twice-weekly seminar programme to encourage interaction with other researchers.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND INTER-CULTURAL MANAGEMENT
Senior Lectureships/Lectureships/Early Career Fellows in Human Resource Management, International Business and Inter-cultural Management
We are looking for colleagues at all levels who share a passion for research and education in the areas of human resource management, international business and inter-cultural management.

HRM research at Stirling is especially focused on the Working Lives theme that reflects an inter-disciplinary approach to capturing the dynamic relationships between work, household, family, society and community.  At present research is on-going in areas that include the creative industries, work-life boundaries, social identity at work, the psychological contract and gender and employment.  We have a particular concern with locating these interests in the study of public, not for profit and voluntary organisations, and within an international context.

We produce conceptual and critical research that examines how changes in work are experienced and shaped by workers and workers’ organisations, and how the international environment and the operation of organisations across international and cultural boundaries impacts upon this.  We aim both to further academic understanding of how work and international business is shaped by economic, political and management choices, and in turn how these influence social cohesions, divisions and identities.

Within the Stirling Management School these subjects are taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.  There is an HRM undergraduate (Honours) degree programme and international management is taught and embedded across a range of degree programmes.  The School also offers MScs in HRM, and International Business and colleagues also contribute to other Masters and MBA programmes.

RETAILING, MARKETING, BRANDING AND CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR
Senior Lectureships/Lectureships/Early Career Fellows in Retailing, Marketing, Branding and Consumer Behaviour
We are looking for colleagues at all levels who share a passion for research and education in these areas of Retailing, Branding and Marketing.  Within the Stirling Management School these areas are of particular research focus, especially through the work of the:
  •  Institute for Retail Studies, and the
  •  Research Centre for Consumers, Cultures and Society.
In addition to these formal organisation units focussing particular research within these areas, colleagues in the School are actively engaged in marketing and branding research from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds and approaches and collectively share research experience, output and impact in these fields.

We offer particular undergraduate degree pathways in retailing and marketing, which include components on branding.  Postgraduate programmes include full-time MSc’s in these subjects and a specialist MBA in retailing by distance learning.  We have ambitions to develop and portfolio in these areas.  Teaching is mainly based in Stirling though there are requirements for retail teaching in Singapore.
We are ambitious in terms of both research and teaching, with a strong track record in research funding, research postgraduate supervision and innovative teaching approaches.  We are looking for new colleagues to join these groups, who share our ambitions and see themselves as shaping research and education in these areas, at Stirling, and across the academy.
