Abstract"The world today faces significant economic, environmental and social challenges. While no single policy instrument holds all the answers, innovation is the key ingredient of any effort to improve people’s quality of life. Today’s recovery from the global financial and economic crisis remains fragile. As countries seek to improve productivity performance and ensure sustained growth, they will need to boost their capacity to innovate. Innovation is also essential for addressing some of society’s most pressing issues, such as climate change, health and poverty. But how can governments encourage more people to innovation more of the time? And how can government itself be more innovative?"

OECD Innovation Policy
Posted by

Via IrishEconomy blog, the OECD Innovation Strategy document was released recently. Links to the main documents and a summary are below. I think some of the people working in this area have started to talk about innovation the way certain music traditions talk about love. Sing it with me. "What the world needs now is innovation, sweet innovation..its the only thing that there's just too little of". Its worth reading this document and mentally substitute the words "love" or "loving" every time you see the words "innovation" or "innovative". Kept me going anyway.

A welcome innovation would be a word-processor that automatically removed platitudes and vacuous buzz-words. This would have shortened the OECD document considerably.
