GIS Maps from 2006 Census Data

The UCD School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy have produced a series of maps, as part of a mapping project (and book) based on 2006 Census data from Ireland. The map below shows how the team have visualised the geographical distribution of mortgage-free homes in Ireland. Other GIS maps produced in the series include:

* Ratio of single females to single males
* Households with no motor car
* Households with two or more motor cars
* Use of public transport
* Daily time spent travelling
* Early risers
* Voluntary activity
* Early school leavers

If you were to plot population density I imagine you would get a very similar picture.

The ratio of single females to single males would be far more interesting. Then I could plan where to go courting at the weekends...
