The Advantages of Closing A Few Doors

We've all been paralysed by choice. And its happening to more and more of us, more and more of the time. We live in a culture that celebrates choice in everything from leisure pursuits to where to go for an operation.

There's an upside to

reducing choice, though

yeah but we know there are benefits to cognitive commitment which reduces choice.For example, people with substance abuse or other addiction problems. I am thinking of those stomach implants that alcoholics have ("antabuse"?]. Or a regular poster to this blog who books a taxi the night before to make sure he gets up in time to go to work.
