Machines designed to change humans

Stanford Persuasive Technology Lab is a research centre that looks at how computing products can be designed to change what people believe and what they do. Here are videos that illustrate some applications.

I doubt there is any rational justification for feeling unsettled at the prospect of being nudged by machines, but it does strike me somehow as more insidious than being nudged by a human.
