Digitisation with OneNote

I recently discovered a useful feature in OneNote (part of MS Office 07) which allows the extraction of text from images. This was always relatively easy for pdfs created from Word, TeX etc, but apparently OneNote uses OCR (Optical Character Recognition), same as the Gardai have on their traffic cameras, allowing you to select text from images such as faxes, pictures, and scanned photocopies. Handy for digitisation.

OneNote is good but evernote is brilliant. Accessible on web or on your desktop, or indeed on your iphone or mobile, you can do most of the OneNote stuff but send yourself texts, for example, which can be filed, or you can take a photo on your phone and send it to your evernote file. www.evernote.com

The thing about reading text from image files is also in evernote - the example on the demo is a pic of a tshirt and if you search for the text on the shirt it finds it!
