CSO puts historical census figures online

Great news for all people interested in historical census figures. The CSO are now hosting PDF's containing the published 1926 to 1991 census of population reports. More here.

Also, it was announced in the Irish Times today that Limerick City Council has become the first local authority in the country to put its burial registers online.

It is now possible to access a copy of the original handwritten entries of burials in Mount Saint Lawrence cemetery from 1855 onwards on Limerick City Council’s website www.limerick.ie

The article says that the registers are important from a demographic point of view as they provide statistics for the changing life expectancy rates and death rates.
