I'm not sure how Irishcentral.com can claim to be the first ever global Irish website. Surely IrishEmigrant.com has greater claim? That website is aimed at the global Irish community, is read in 150 countries, and has been in existence since 1994 (while the Irish Emigrant as an online service has existed since 1987).

Not to mention IrishAbroad.com, in existence since the late 1990s, as well as the defunct VirtualIreland.com (which was originally edited in Israel by a Dublin-born emigrant). Plus sites like LocalIreland.com and seventymillion.org.

The "first global Irish website" is a fun bit of hyperbole, but it's not rooted in fact.
